GPT Dots 101 is an unofficial English field-notes site. The previewed product is Dots. This site is not affiliated with OpenAI.
OpenAI’s own title casing on the product page is mostly lowercase “dots.” This site uses Dots as the product name in headings. GPT-6 Astra is the model OpenAI says powers Dots, not another name for the product.
What OpenAI says Dots is
On Introducing dots (29 September 2026), OpenAI says dots are “remarkably capable, always-on agents built to handle everything.” OpenAI says they are powered by GPT-6 Astra, have their own cloud computer, learn from feedback over time, and can work towards your goals 24/7.
OpenAI also says that through plugins they can readily connect to over 4,000 apps.

The appendix itself, Alignment for dots, opens: “Today, we’re launching dots, remarkably capable, always-on agents built to handle everything.” It also says each dot has its own cloud computer and browser.
How you reach a dot
OpenAI says a dot is reachable through ChatGPT, Slack, or Teams, and that you can hop on a voice call. OpenAI describes texting as coming soon — a plan, not a current channel on that page.

Getting started
OpenAI says you create the first dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or desktop browser, then connect apps. After setup, OpenAI says you can message it in the ChatGPT mobile app.

Rollout and what is included
OpenAI says Dots is “rolling out today in ChatGPT to Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets.” OpenAI says Enterprise (including Edu and Healthcare) can try the beta when a workspace admin enables it. “We plan to expand dots to more users soon” is a plan.
OpenAI says your first dot is included in your Pro or Business Premium plan at no extra cost. This site does not add a dollar price.
OpenAI says conversations with your dot do not count toward your ChatGPT usage limits. Tasks you ask the dot to start or manage in Codex or ChatGPT Work still count toward usage limits as usual.
Control
OpenAI describes Custom Rules. OpenAI says some sensitive tasks, such as changing a password, always stay with the user.
OpenAI describes proactive research: when you are not actively working with it, the dot looks for ways to help using already-connected apps with read-only tools. In that mode, OpenAI says it cannot send messages, change app content, or control the browser or computer.

One primary dot today
OpenAI says: “Today, you can start with your primary dot, give it a name, and make it your own. Over time, we envision teams of dots working together on your behalf.” Teams of dots are a vision, not a current feature.
OpenAI describes specialist dots and Microsoft Agent 365 as an enterprise preview / ongoing work, not a generally available product feature.
